InkTec provided the branding for the boat’s sponsors using its UV DTF technologies

InkTec has supported the three-strong Vibe the Wave rowing team to row across the Atlantic by providing branding for their boat using its latest UV DTF technology.

Known as the World’s Toughest Row – Atlantic, the team rowed 3,000 nautical miles from La Gomera to Antigua. This involved the team rowing three hours on and three hours off over 40-50 days with the team having departed from the canaries in mid-December.

It is estimated that the team will complete an average of 1.5 million strokes, burn over 5,000 calories, and consume at least five litres of water a day – not to mention the sores, blisters, sleep deprivation, storms, and 40ft waves they will have to contend with.

Their boat would have been easily recognised due to being adorned with sponsor branding produced using UV DTF printing from InkTec.

The UK-based Vibe the Wave rowing team is made up of Maddie Difazio-Wright, Grace “G” Pybus, and Grace Gilbert

The UV technology combines UV-curable ink and special film to produce designs for a variety of substrates such as plastics, metal, board, and more. This enabled the graphics to be easily transferred onto the boat’s hard, smooth surfaces.

Joey King, managing director of InkTec Europe, says: “This is an incredible challenge the Vibe the Wave team are taking on and we are delighted to have the opportunity to support them by providing them with the boat branding created using our DTF UV technology.”
