In a project that paid tribute to the success of Olympians and Paralympians at this summer’s Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Signs Express Leeds branch supported a special project to welcome local athletes home.

The firm was commissioned by Welcome to Yorkshire to add branding to the five buses that were used during a welcome home parade.

Signs Express Leeds had to ensure that the special branding was striking enough to cover up any existing graphics, as the buses that featured during the parade are usually used for local sightseeing tours and general bus hire.

David Nurse, owner of the local Signs Express centre, comments: “After the most successful Olympics and Paralympics in our country’s history, with many of the medal winning athletes coming from this region, it’s fantastic that Welcome to Yorkshire has organised such a great homecoming.

We were delighted to receive the commission for the bus graphics and the design certainly provided the finishing touches to what was a fantastic parade

Amongst the famous faces that featured in the parade were Andy Triggs Hodge and Paul Bennett, who both won gold medals for rowing at Rio 2016, as well as triathletes Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, who earned gold and silver medals, respectively.

Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft MBE, who won gold in the T34 100m, T34 400m and T34 800m, also took part in the parade, as did Paralympic cycling pilot double gold medallist, Adam Duggleby.
