The sculptures, created using pre-used lampshades attached in chains, brought Miller success at the Hong Kong Art Fair in March, and have now been selected to be part of the Yinchuan Biennale in northern China in September.

The event, entitled For an Image, Faster Than Light, will run at the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan until December and feature more than 80 artists from across the globe.

Miller, an artist with the Ingleby Gallery in Glasgow, comments: “I was finding it difficult to master the LED tube myself, so I decided to look for an off-the-shelf, tried and tested solution – and I found that in the Wandlite.

It’s a very practical lighting solution for a range of markets including exhibition and display, but this is the first really artistic use I’ve seen and the results are stunning

“I had previously used fluorescent lighting but wanted a solution that offered more longevity. The Wandlite was also a good solution for me as it offers varying tube lengths and I can string them together for installations of different sizes.”

Wandlite founder and designer Jonathan Evitt comments: “I’m delighted to see Wandlite being used in such a creative way. It’s a very practical lighting solution for a range of markets including exhibition and display, but this is the first really artistic use I’ve seen and the results are stunning.

“It’s exciting to have our product showcased in this way on the international stage and I expect the sculptures will prove as inspirational and popular at the Yinchuan Biennale as they did in Hong Kong.”
