Installation of the special application at the museum took one day and featured two members of the Signs Express Sheffield team
Popham, who studied at the Swansea College of Art, works as an interior textile designer and illustrator, with the project in question featuring a combination of architecture of Sheffield in bird silhouettes with plants from the city’s Winter Garden.
Measuring 40sq m, ‘Birds Buildings and Botany’ will run alongside the museum’s new exhibition ‘In the Making: Ruskin, Creativity and Craftsmanship’.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team at Signs Express Sheffield for all the hard work they put in to making the vinyl”
Two members of the Signs Express Sheffield team spent one day installing the design in a corridor section of the museum, with Popham paying tribute to the work done by the specialist.
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team at Signs Express Sheffield for all the hard work they put in to making the vinyl,” comments Popham, who goes on to say: “I absolutely love it and installing it was such a wonderful experience. It’s great to see your own work going up in such a public space.”
Signs Express Sheffield has established a reputation for working with local artists, with the company having previously created another impressive installation at the Millennium Gallery. The firm worked alongside artist Florence Blanchard to transform her ‘Particles’ piece into a window graphic, amongst a number of other projects.
