This installation from 2MZ is designed to provoke thought and challenge perceptions of black cultural-identity
The firm was tasked with creating a modern twist on a Georgian pavilion for the Black Cultural Archives’ (BCA) contribution to the London Design Festival.

Using Alupanel Aluminium Composite from Perspex Distribution, it constructed ‘Pleasure Garden’ to provoke thought and challenge perceptions of black cultural-identity and social influence during the Georgian era.
“Brixton is a vibrant place, so it made sense to look around us for colour inspiration – Ghanian kente cloth was the starting point for the combinations we have used,” explains 2MZ founder Lloyd Touwen, who adds: “The patterns include elements of BCA’s distinctive logo and others are patterns that we have been developing over the years.
