Diversified print business, Digital Creative Services [London] (DCS), has become the first company in the UK to invest in and install a HP Latex R530 hybrid printer.

DCS is headed by managing director, Barry Page, alongside business partner and co-owner, Dave Gibbons. The pair purchased the company in June 2020, significantly expanding its offering in the five years that followed and regularly investing in new machinery.

The press, which was acquired through approved HP distributor, Papergraphics, and installed in April 2025, was purchased by DCS to boost output in key growth markets and support its aim of offering more sustainable printing services.

As with all HP Latex printers, the Latex R530 runs water-based inks, which are reported to have less impact on the environment than solvent, eco-solvent, and UV inks.

Speaking of the environmental credentials of the press, Page says: “The decision to purchase the HP Latex machine was in part driven by our clients’ needs to ensure they reach their sustainability targets, plus our own ethos of buying the most environmentally friendly equipment in the market in line with our ISO 14001 environmental management system.

“Our objective is to help our customers achieve their ever more sustainable goals, which are aligned to our own. We have carried out a lot of work to be able to offer ever improving environmentally responsible operations and the range of recycled and recyclable materials that we offer. We clearly see this investment as the next step of this ongoing process.”

The machine will mainly be used for producing freestanding exhibition display boards, which DCS has identified as a key growth market, as well as increasing capacity for output including office décor and window manifestation.

The HP Latex R530 can switch between rigid and flexible applications, delivering resolutions of up to 1200 x 600dpi across various media types. The press has been designed for applications including indoor and outdoor signage, wall coverings, vehicle wraps and graphics, point of sale (POS), and packaging.

Running at a top speed of 24sq m/hr in indoor mode, the press can print on media up to 1.6m wide and as thick as 5cm.

A number of UK companies have recently announced investments in HP Latex solutions, spurred on in part by HP’s presence at this year’s FESPA Global Print Expo in Berlin.

Trade-only display solutions manufacturer, Ultima Displays, recently invested in a range of new HP Latex equipment including the purchase of a new Latex R2000 at its UK facility in Corby, finalising the investment at FESPA Global Print Expo.

Wide-format print, signage, and display solutions provider, Imageco, also recently expanded its portfolio of HP printers with the addition of a new HP Latex 830W.

The Latex 730W and 830W series, part of the latest generation of HP’s wide-format offering, appeared in Europe for the first time at FESPA 2025. The new models add two white printheads to the core eight of the standard 730 and 830 models.

HP will also exhibit this year at Stand S300 of The Sign Show, after a six-year absence from UK print trade exhibitions. HP’s 80sq m stand will promote a range of its latest wide-format solutions including the HP Latex 730 and 830 series and the Latex R530.
