By using PVC-free Kavalan banner from CMYUK, Embrace Building Wraps was able to offer a sustainable solution when completing a large internal branding project.

Embrace produced graphics for fit-out and finishing business to the construction industry, Lucas UK, and used eco-friendly material.

A rare ‘inside job’ for the company best known for striking large-scale building wraps, the graphics were produced for Lucas UK’s new purpose-built Centre of Excellence and Innovation near to its HQ in Kent.

Tasked with transforming the centre’s main interior with Lucas UK’s ‘Innovation through Collaboration’ campaign in mind, Embrace printed inspirational quotes from Aristotle, Charles Darwin, Thomas Edison, and Albert Einstein onto Kavalan Sunlight Weldable material.

This material is a PVC-free polyester-based textile that has the same appearance as traditional PVC banner but without the added impact on the environment.

The full project involved seven large-scale graphics, five of which were installed in the main central area concealing a corrugated metal wall and secured by a wire frame system.

The other two printed wraps were fitted using the SPIRIT-FLEX tension two-part system which consists of a base aluminium frame attached to a wall, which the banner is stretched over. The textile is then tensioned and secured with a tension strip clip profile which locks into a base channel in the mechanism.

Greg Forster, managing director of Embrace Building Wraps explains that working inside meant the team avoided unpredictable challenges such as the weather and local environmental logistics.

“This was a new vacant building with no obstructions, allowing us for example to easily bolt tap the wire frame systems into the steels,” Forster says, adding: “Our expertise in building wraps and large-scale banners enabled us to specify the perfect combination of solutions to deliver the internal branding.

“We deployed multiple mechanics behind the scenes, whilst presenting unified and harmonious visuals for centre visitors.”

The centre will be used to provide training and is home to Lucas UK’s Future Lab, a home for research and development initiatives and collaborative innovation.

“We are delighted with the project,” Greg adds. “The area has been transformed with the client’s inspired creative around the upper levels, making it a great space to work in.

“By introducing Lucas UK to Kavalan, we are continuing our ongoing quest to move away from traditional PVC products wherever possible, minimising and offsetting any negative environmental impact when doing business.”
