Taking place at Hilton Birmingham Metropole at the NEC, the Sign & Wrap Awards (previously the Sign Awards) celebrated a variety of different projects, businesses, and individuals within the sign, wrap, and wide-format print industry.

Winners included Sign Reload (Unsung Hero award), Astley (Best in Show - Signage), Cube Branding (Best in Show - Wrap), Off The Wall Creative (Young Signmaker and Signage Company of the Year Under 30), Patrick McGowan from Off the Wall (Industry Champion), and Blaze Signs (Signage Company of the Year 30+).

Hosted by ITV weather presenter Emma Jessop, the evening gave attendees the chance to catch up, network, and celebrate following a year of big projects and continuing hurdles for businesses to tackle.

This year saw vinyl wrapping categories included meaning an even larger variety of businesses and projects were nominated. Looking at the nominees and winners it was also clear to see the increased standard from previous years and the continuing diversity of projects as evident in categories like the Roll-out award, which included projects featuring fabricated signage, print, and sign writing.

Many businesses took home multiple awards thanks to the Gold, Silver, and Bronze rankings which included awards like Printed Wrap – Out of the Ordinary, Architectural Film Project, Wayfinding Scheme, Sustainability in Signage, and Traditional Sign.

Taking home the Architectural, Roll-out, and Best in Show awards, Astley was a big stand out of the night with James Mavi, sales and marketing director for the company, commenting: “We are so honoured to have received these awards. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team here at Astley.

“We are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and consistently delivering exceptional signage solutions, and we couldn’t do it without the dedication of our excellent workforce.”

The Architectural and Best in Show award went to Astley’s project with Ad Gefrin Distillery and the judges were impressed by the use of natural materials and the complex craftsmanship.

The project included a variety of interior, exterior, and wayfinding signage which celebrated Northumbrian heritage. The judges praised the production that went into the Ad Gefrin roundel which went through several production stages including CNC routing and spraying the sign to create a faux copper effect.

The Best in Show for the Wrap section went to Cube Branding which won the Full Colour Change award for its Rolls-Royce vehicle wrap due to the company’s attention to detail in producing the car’s filigree pattern and “shimmering” silvers.

The Awards also rewarded individuals and entire businesses including Carter McDonald who won the Young Signmaker award due to his commitment and ambition within signage and graphics company Off The Wall Creative.

The business also won Signage Company of the Year (under 30 employees), with the judges commenting: “This is a relatively young company that has achieved so much in their 14 years and seek creative solutions with a passionate team of craftspeople.”
