The 100 winning portraits will be displayed across the UK’s digital channel of screens in partnership with JCDecaux UK, making it the largest exhibition of contemporary photography ever held.

The BJP recorded a staggering 13,000 entries to the competition this year, which invites photographers and amateurs alike to submit their portraits. The aim of the exhibition is to reflect the diversity of modern Britain as well as giving invaluable media exposure and nationwide outreach for those winners.

JCDecaux said in an article from the BJP: “Digital Out of Home’s reach and scale provide the perfect platform to showcase this inspiring and unique exhibition, which celebrates multiculturalism and diversity throughout the country and it can be enjoyed by people as they shop, travel and socialise in cities nationwide.”

The panel of judges this year included Martin Usborne, founder of Hoxton Mini Press, Caroline Hunter, picture editor at The Guardian Weekend Magazine, Olivia Arthur, a Magnum photographer and Simon Bainbridge who is the editorial director at BJP.

For the first time this year, 200 of the shortlisted entries including the winners will be published in a book in collaboration with Hoxton Mini Press, an east London independent publisher.

The winning portraits will be shown on screens across the UK from September 1st.
