Fastsigns has revealed details of a special initiative that will run throughout the summer months, with the goal of raising more than £4,000 for the Simon Cooper Foundation.

A total of 17 Fastsigns sites across the UK will take part in the initiative

The ‘Fastsigns Goes The Extra Mile’ campaign will feature 17 Fastsigns centres across the UK, as well as the firm’s the UK Support Centre, with staff working together to walk, cycle or run more than 720 miles over a period of 17 weeks.

The campaign runs from May until August, with each Fastsigns centre being set a target of contributing 42.3 miles to the overall total. Working from north to south, once one site has completed its turn, the next centre will then pick up the baton and mount up its miles.

John Davies, managing director of Fastsigns UK, comments: “The Simon Cooper Foundation is a charity that is very close to all our hearts here at Fastsigns UK so it’s fantastic that we’re able to do something special for such a worthy cause. Clocking up so many miles is going to be no mean feat but I’m confident that we can all do it.

“We have such a fantastic network of UK centres so it’s great to see them all coming together to help raise some much needed funds for so many people in need.”

The Simon Cooper Foundation was set up in memory of Simon Cooper, the son of Enfield Fastsigns owners Paul and Angela Cooper. Simon sadly passed away in January 2016 after suffering with both Cystic Fibrosis and cancer, but both his legacy and work live on through the work that the Foundation does.

Speaking about this summer’s fundraising drive, Paul and Angele Cooper say: “All of us at the Simon Cooper Foundation are so delighted the Fastsigns centres across the country have agreed to be involved in ‘Fastsigns Goes the Extra Mile’ campaign.

“Despite a lifetime of ill health, Simon never stopped trying to help a variety of good causes. He travelled the country as an NHS Transplant and Blood Donor Ambassador and was never embarrassed to talk about his condition as it helped others understand the importance of involvement with charities and organisations that strive to raise funds to further research.

“Fastsigns Goes the Extra Mile is travelling the country for Simon and it will help to raise funds for hospitals, Hospices and medical research associated with Cystic Fibrosis and Cancer.”
