Fine Cut praises LED abilities of Impala

Fine Cut has recently invested in a new Swiss Q Print Impala LED printer, after admitting that UV curing presented limitations because of media distortion caused by the heat produced.

The Swiss Q Print Impala LED printer was supplied and installed by Bristol-based Spandex UK

The LED printer replaces the original Impala, and was installed and supplied by Spandex UK in October. Digital print manager, Simon Tourle, explains: “While the original Impala exceeded all our expectations of digital output quality, UV curing still presented limitations for high-precision work on more challenging substrates, due to the media distortion caused by the high temperature curing process.”

Fine Cut has used Impala technology since it was launched in 2010, and the commercial impact from its latest investment has already been felt. Tourle continues: “The new Impala LED has delivered a noticeable step up in speed, thanks to acceleration of the printing process itself and the LED curing, which removes the need for warm-up and cool-down cycles between jobs. Out flatbed productivity has more than doubled.”

The latest Impala is a 2.5 x 2m printer, and offers six colours (CMYK, LC, and LM) plus white ink, primer, and varnish options.

Tourle adds: “Our clients absolutely appreciate the exceptional quality we can deliver with this digital press. As a business, we’ve always invested to stay at the forefront of the industrial print sector with a clear focus on high-quality results realised by our technology choices.

“We’re driven by the wish to be able to respond to any client brief, however challenging. We like to say that we can print anything on anything with the Impala, and we certainly can.”
