EFI expands portfolio with dedicated flatbed

The recently launched Pro 24f flatbed printer from Electronics for Imaging (EFI) is now commercially available, with the first customer, Superior Signs and Engraving in America, benefitting from the newest LED and greyscale technologies.

The EFI Pro 24f was originally launched at the recent SGIA Expo

The Pro 24f is the only flatbed wide-format printer from EFI to have the LED and variable drop greyscale technology, and also includes white ink.

Adam Stiles, co-owner of Superior Signs and Engraving, explains: “We were completely blown away once the printer was up and running. The 24f produces vibrant colours and has a great print speed. In fact, we have doubled our output on flatbed work with this new printer. Plus, the printer’s white ink produces a very opaque, bright white colour, which has increased our quality of print. Overall we would recommend this printer 100 percent.”

Stiles also explains that the flatbed was the right option because it offers the firm the ability to easily position substrates. He continues: “The features that are a nice upgrade for us besides the colour quality and speed are the button-activated media guides and the media flat button. When positioning heavier medias such as 6mm Dibond and quarter-inch acrylic, the float always allows us to easily position the material without having to worry about sliding it, especially on double-sided prints.”

The new Pro 24f is also environmentally-friendly, with its LED technology concentrating on low power consumption and minimal waste. The Fiery Pro Server Core digital allows for faster job processing, colour management, and production options.

Stiles finishes: “The built-in EFI Fiery Pro Server with Fast RIP makes ripping files extremely easy and fast, which helps with our overall output.”
