The Nando’s brand on Frith Streetin Soho, London, was the latest site to get the Shimmerdisc

Shimmerdisc installed a 170,000-sequin display at a Nando’s branch in London, utilising printing and product technology that it developed in-house. For this project, the company printed all of the sequins on an Agfa Anapurna wide-format UV printer.

Andrew Ainge, founder and inventor of Shimmerdisc, says: “What a difference it makes with the addition of the 3D illuminated signage. With so many moving parts the display is constantly changing—almost LED and at night with the illuminated signage and street lighting the effect is simply stunning.”

The Nando’s installation comes shortly after Shimmerdisc, which has patented its unique method of printed, worked on a project with Coca-Cola at Wembley Arena, also in London. The company is now looking to work with other major brands and it seeks to spread the word about its Shimmerdisc solution.

We are now working with a customer to create the worlds first 1 million photo sequin display—something to look forward to and almost 800,000 more sequins than our biggest display so far

Andrew Ainge, founder and inventor of Shimmerdisc, reveals that the company is on the verge of finalising details of a major project that will see it smash its own record and create an installation boasting one million sequins.

Ainge explains: “We are now working with a customer to create the worlds first 1 million photo sequin display—something to look forward to and almost 800,000 more sequins than our biggest display so far.”

Shimmerdisc is available in a range of colour and finishes, including solid colour, holographic, glow in the dark, reflective and wood.
