General manager of Signfab UK, Mike Smith, has revealed the company will be providing educational programmes for sign businesses over the coming year in a strategic move to both help its customers improve their offering, while also providing a new skills attainment scheme for sign-makers.

The Athena Events Centre will play host the British Sign Awards, after the BSGA had to move from last year’s venue

Smith says: “Many of these will be delivered by independent sign consultants and will also include tours of our facilities to help visitors improve their knowledge and understanding of sign-making and the products and services on offer as well as providing a chance to meet, face to face, the dedicated people at Signfab who deliver the service and products expected of us.”

This comes after the announcement that Signfab, in partnership Current, powered by GE, is the new lead sponsor of the British Sign and Graphics Association’s 2017 British Sign Awards.

We are delighted to welcome Signfab UK with Current, powered by GE, as our principal sponsor for the 2017 Awards

Current develop and manufacture LED illumination systems for the signage industry, and GE invented the first visible LED in 1962.

Smith comments: “We are really excited about joining forces with GE and believe that the British Sign Awards provides a great platform to announce this great partnership and to promote our continuing dedication to the UK sign industry.”

David Catanach, director of the BSGA, says: “We are delighted to welcome Signfab UK with Current, powered by GE, as our principal sponsor for the 2017 Awards. It is great to see one of the stalwarts of the sign industry in partnership with a world leader in LED technology and we wish them well in their joint venture. Their joint involvement in the awards provides a perfect launch for the new partnership and demonstrates their commitment to the sign industry in the UK.”

The event will take place at Leicester’s Athena Events Centre on November 8th 2017.
