Kayleigh Gray now has a bouncy and happy two-year-old girl Emilia, but when she was born three month prematurely in a critical situation at Preston Sharoe Green Hospital, she was facing challenging months ahead.

Gray is a graphic designer at Sign Build, based in the North West, and after the experience she had the brain wave to create something that would help parents who find themselves in this harrowing situation.

With the help of Sign Build she designed and created 25 pairs of acrylic turtle doves that could be handed out to parents on the unit, with one dove remaining with their baby whilst the other was taken home.

“Parents are extremely sentimental during their time at the hospital and this way, although they may not always be on the unit, their son or daughter will always be with them,” explains Gray.

When I asked my boss Mark, owner of Sign Build, to help out, he didn’t hesitate in saying yes and I’m really proud that the company is helping out for something so close to my heart

She adds: “When I asked my boss Mark, owner of Sign Build, to help out, he didn’t hesitate in saying yes and I’m really proud that the company is helping out for something so close to my heart.”

Mark Cowin, director of Sign Build, also explained his feelings on being involved with the project: “The Neo Natal Unit is extremely close to Kayleigh’s heart, and supports numerous families daily, so we were proud to get involved.”

Each tag that is attached to a Turtle Dove reads; Turtle Doves represent love. Keep one at home and give the other to your very special baby, so you will never be far away.
