OKI has announced that it is to launch its special ‘Print my Ride’ initiative on its stand at The Print Show this year, giving budding artists and experienced creatives alike the opportunity to design a car wrap fit for the racetrack

The ‘Print My Ride’ competition closes on March 31st, 2017

Entrants will be able to upload their artwork to the Print My Ride website, www.okiprintmyride.com, and apply it to a virtual car—rotating a 3D view to experience it from all angles before submitting online showroom photos to be judged by an expert panel.

Winners will be chosen from six categories: ‘Overall design winner’, ‘Best overall visual design based on use of colour and style’, ‘Best use of the OKI Colorpainter’s capabilities based on technical application’, ‘Best professional creative design’, ‘Best design from an educational establishment’, and ‘Wild card’, which will be given to the wrap that garners the most attention on social media.

Winning designers will each receive prizes for their contributions: a 1:18 scale-model car wrapped in their artwork and an all-expenses-paid VIP trip for two to a Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship event.

I’m very impressed with the work so far and can’t wait to get started

The money-can’t-buy experience includes access to team garages, a garage tour, a grid walk, a meet-and-greet session with the drivers and signed team kit, with the ‘Overall design winner’ also receiving a 50 percent discount voucher, redeemable on an OKI hardware product of their choice.

Alongside the competition, OKI will be supplying a brand new livery for Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship driver Mat Jackson’s car, printed on the new OKI Colour Painter wide-format printer.

The wrap will cover the entire car—a first in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championships.

Jason Price, creative designer for vehicle graphics specialist Jellyfish Design, says: “I think this will certainly go a long way in the industry, I’m very impressed with the work so far and can’t wait to get started”.

It’s fantastic to have OKI come on board with the team at this point in our campaign

Motorbase Performance team principal, David Bartrum, adds: “It’s fantastic to have OKI come on board with the team at this point in our campaign. To have that kind of radical change to Mat’s Ford Focus with such a vibrant and unique design for the last two crucial rounds of the 2016 season at Silverstone and Brands Hatch tops things off nicely.

“We’re very proud to be the first team on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship grid to carry the OKI brand and to demonstrate the new wide-format print wrap in action for the season’s climax and we look forward to a successful partnership off- and on-track.”

Mat Jackson’s car will be sporting the custom-made wrap at the Silverstone race weekend taking place from September 17th to 18th, and at the Brands Hatch GP from 1st to 2nd October.
