Roland DG has paid tribute to the impact of its recent VersaUV Experience Day, stating that the first edition of the event helped to attract even more interest in its technology

Those in attendance were able to learn more about the UV print markets, and were given tailored information on how to break into personalisation, industrial and giftware through the use of UV technology, and how UV printing can be used to bring in additional profit.

Rob Goleniowski, sales support manager at Roland DG, says: “We had a great turnout on the day, and had chance to spend a good amount of time with each customer that attended for a truly personalised experience. With UV print there’s such a wide variety of applications and industries to utilise, you’re never far from a profit-making avenue.”

Media Supplier Shimmerdisc was on hand throughout the day to talk visitors through its sequin-based media, which is compatible with Roland DG’s VersaUV LEF series printers, while Multipanel was in attendance to offer visitors the chance to find out more about its Alupanel aluminium composite panels.

Joe Wigzell, Academy and Creative Centre Manager, also oversaw an Academy course, which captured the interest of visitors, as he explains: “The VersaUV day was a great opportunity for both existing and potential customers to come and find out all about UV technology, the processes and related products in a relaxed environment—something that we know is very appealing to customers.”

One Roland DG customer who is happy to spread the word about the company’s kit is Ben Grist, founder of Oakdene Designs, who began using technology from the firm at the age of 17, now runs his own business with a turnover of £1.5m.

Started in 2012, Grist and Oakdene Designs started out with a Roland DG GX-24 and was able to achieve a turnover of £60,000 in his first year. He then went on to invest in a Roland DG GX-500, and later a Roland DG SOLJET PRO 4 XR-640 wide format inkjet printer/cutter as his business grew.

Today, in addition to an impressive annual turnover, Oakdene Designs employs a total of eight full-time staff members and is selling high-volume specially made-to-order decorative products on the web in the UK and worldwide. This success only looks set to continue after an investment in a Roland DG VersaUV LEF-300 UV printer.

Grist comments: “I knew from the minute I first started working with Roland DG machinery at college that the machines were something I wanted to work with forever. The ease of use, versatility and power are incomparable and have been an essential element to the success of the business.”
