ATP rolls out solvent-free adhesive technology

ATP has followed up on an exciting end to 2015 by launching a new range of low water whitening adhesives for the graphics market—a move that could potentially boost its already strong position in the sector.

Last year, ATP completed a €20m investment in a new factory and coating facility in Germany

The firm, which last year finalised a €20m investment in a facility in Germany, says that the development will enable users to employ a ‘truly non-whitening’ solvent-free adhesive film to complement the use of low solvent and solvent free printing technologies.

The result is that the surface area of the adhesive in contact with the graphic film is increased which in turn reduces the possibility for water to penetrate into the adhesive film

Richard Simpson, sales manager for the UK and Ireland at ATP, explains how the development is possible through advancements in acrylic adhesive technology: “ATP formulates and coats only its own adhesives, our R & D team in Switzerland have been able to develop a new fine particle size, UV stable transparent adhesive with reduced water absorption.

Simpson adds: “The result is that the surface area of the adhesive in contact with the graphic film is increased which in turn reduces the possibility for water to penetrate into the adhesive film.”
