Costa Rica: the Central American flora and fauna is inspirational to the work of Gideon Oberson

Located in Germany, the Frankfurt exhibition runs from January 14th to 17th and features manufacturing technology for the fabric and textile industries, which will be of interest to those sign-makers who have diversified into soft-signage and fabric design.

Kornit Digital says there has been an upsurge of interest in digital textile printing due to the versatility of ink-jet printing. The firm’s NeoPigment process used in their technology has raised quality standards in the print finish and is suitable for shorter runs and greater individuality in the print process.

Strolling through the tropical lands of Costa Rica, I discovered an incredible variety of strong colour, sound and fragrance

Founded in 2003 Kornit’s system eliminates any pre-treatment and post treatment, with only a dry single step textile production.

The company is collaborating at the trade show with designer Gideon Oberson in order to show a creative range of textile designs. The textile designer says: “Strolling through the tropical lands of Costa Rica, I discovered an incredible variety of strong colour, sound and fragrance.

“Inspired by these three elements, I created a vivid environment—but my ideas really came to life thanks to the amazing colour gamut and versatility of the Kornit Allegro.”

Digital textile printing has increased since its birth in the 1990s when sign-makers first began to use wide-format digital printing for soft signage such as banners and flags. The technology involved has come on leaps and bounds since the early days, with Kornit’s system being the latest step in the evolution of this technology.
