Complete CNC cuts new profit path for sign-makers

In news that seems certain to intensify the already heated battle ensuing in one key sign-making technology sector, Complete CNC Solutions has launched the Italian-manufactured Protek line of routing and cutting productions systems into the UK.

The Protek Unico TT is the new flagship of Complete CNC Solutions routing and cutting portfolio. It will be launching a series of training packages, open days, and road shows to showcase the technology’s quality and output capabilities

With the Complete CNC Solutions synonymous with the Tekcel brand of machines, it is a major strategic decision for the company. Managing director of the firm, Julian Sage, outlines the motivation for the move: “We’ve introduced the Protek line to help us deliver a solution set to some new markets we’re pursuing, and to help move progressive businesses in the signing and allied industries to new application arenas.”

Sage is also keen to allay any fears about its core brand: “Our Tekcel line remains the defining foundation of what's now a whole family of systems we offer, and it represents a critical component of our product road-map to the future.”

Looking at the credentials of the Italian-manufactured Protek machinery and its reviews, its key advantages seem to hinge on the very high-quality finished output it can produce. Sage enthusiastically adds that it leaves those, “with an appreciation of routing and cutting's finer points, frankly, in awe.”

Sage continues: “The engineering quality of the Protek line is a thing of real beauty. Everything is brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed. Over-dimensioned helical rack-and-pinion serve up the muscle behind a brushless-servo drive governed by a Mitsubishi Controller System. It's all run behind proprietary firmware and a superb operator console.”

Complete CNC Solutions new portfolio starts with the multifunction Unico TT with its standard knife cutting capability and the more modestly specified Unico. Key to the new technology from Protek is that it can reportedly achieve best-in-class spindle speeds, and comes with a heavy duty vacuum-bed.

The result, says Sage, is ‘output of the highest quality’ that requires no cleaning or further polishing. He also reports that a robust extraction system leaves virtually no chaff lying on the machine or substrate and ‘zero’ visible edge cutting or course deviation marks.

Another key feature of the new technology is that even the slightest variation in material thicknesses can be detected and accommodated for by the Protek kit to maintain quality levels.

Sage concludes: "Whether you're just stepping on the learning curve with rigid materials or you're there with a massive print-cut workload that needs dealing with, we're ready for business with a system that works for you.”
