Granite sign: the park is located in the west of Scotland near Oban
The European Science Park is in an area containing an awful lot of mountains but not many jobs and even less industry. That may change with the opening of the European Science Park at Oban, which lies opposite the misty mountains of the Island of Mull.
Manager Paul Lennie said the large scale structures needed Baillie’s 25 years of experience, not just in terms of engraving and manufacture but also safety, transport, lifting and installation”
The park’s signage has just been completed by Baillie Signs of Edinburgh who sent a three man team to install signage for the state-of-the-art business development. The firm worked in conjunction with The Torrance Partnership for Highlands and Islands Enterprise to provide large-scale structures that included signs made of twenty millimetre thick granite, nearly two and half metres high, with internal frames fabricated in steel and each weighing nearly a tonne.
Manager Paul Lennie said the large scale structures needed Baillie’s 25 years of experience, not just in terms of engraving and manufacture but also safety, transport, lifting and installation. And they got a sun tan doing it, as July was surprisingly hot in Argyll.
