Nominate a sign-maker for new award

One of the most satisfying moments for any craftsman in the sign-industry is to be recognised by their peers for their work.

Spcial award: the new craftsman award will be launched this year

Thanks to the involvement of Corby-based Trade Etching Direct, a special ‘Craftsman Award’ will be presented at this year’s British Sign and Graphic Association awards. Traditional signs – etched, engraved, sign-written, hand-painted, carved, gilded, sand-blasted or sculpted on a vast array of materials – still play a major role in the industry.  Often combined with modern sign-making techniques, these traditional skills are used to create distinctive signs that can be an art form in their own right.

The BSGA British Sign Awards are open to all UK sign businesses and awards will be made in 11 sign-maker categories plus one special award for the sign product of the year

The Craftsman Award will recognise and reward the craftsmen who retain and use these skills.

“We felt that it was important to continue to foster and encourage traditional sign making skills and we are delighted to sponsor this special award,” says Anthony Dullaghan of Trade Etching Direct.

In addition to sponsoring the Craftsman Award, the company has also agreed to produce the winner’s trophies for this year’s awards.

“We will be working with the BSGA to design trophies that the award winners will be proud to receive and display,” continues Dullaghan.

The BSGA British Sign Awards are open to all UK sign businesses and awards will be made in eleven sign-maker categories plus one special award for the sign product of the year.  Entry is free and the closing date for receipt of entries is September 1st. The awards will be presented at a gala event to take place at the Holte Suite at Aston Villa Football Club  on Thursday, October 30th, 2014.
