Rare chance: there's an opportunity for an apprentice sign-maker

Brackley-based dlinexsign are seeking an intermediate level sign-maker apprentice at their site with the offer of a wage of £170 a week for the right person.

Apprenticeships in the sign industry are a rare commodity so competition is expected to be high. Currently there are more than 900,000 unemployed young people in the country. The apprenticeship involves many diverse skills from graphic design through to fabricating and assembly, and incorpo-rates materials such as perspex, stainless steel, aluminium, MDF—wood veneer, vinyl, plastic, metal and glass.

The apprentice will be trained to BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sign Making with opportunities to pro-gress onto BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sign Making. The company say that the person must have an ability to work with their hands and an enthusiastic approach to work is essential.

The advert has been placed on the website of the British Sign and Graphics Association.
