Not since the days of King Leidang of Denmark and Ivar The Boneless in the ninth century has Yorkshire seen Vikings plan an assault of the land betwixt the Wash and the Humber.

Fortunately, these Vikings are not using sharpened axes in their conquest of new territories. For these are the neatly dressed foot soldiers of Viking, a specialist supplier of tapes, two part adhesives, and sealants to the UK sign industry.
In conjunction with 3M Tapes and Abrasives, the firm has opened its first branch office in Century Business Park, Manvers, Rotherham, some 25 years after setting up shop in Keighley near Bradford in 1989.
The company will be forming raiding parties across Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, and Sheffield, as it impresses its selection of 3M leading tapes, adhesives, and abrasives on various sign-makers, with its sights firmly set on further penetration into Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire.

Our aim is to provide the region’s rapidly expanding manufacturing industry with quality products and cost-effective solutions.
“Our new South Yorkshire operation is supported by two Viking technical salesmen and two 3M technical specialists. As part of our launch programme, we are promoting new VHB tapes, new low cost 3M high bond products and the new range of 3M industrial sealants—all of specific interest to the sign industry.”
In planning the expansion Bennett paid tribute to the help and advice received from both Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, and Rotherham Investment and Development Office (RiDO), Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council's regeneration arm.
“They have proved invaluable in helping us to locate our new South Yorkshire premises and in opening up access to a generous business support package,” he says.
