Zeta Specialist Lighting is working with Nottingham City Council to reduce its carbon emissions through LED lighting

Zeta’s SolisPOST lights and ECOLUX SOLAR technology will assist with public safety and comfort, with SolisPOST illuminating drop kerb areas to direct wheelchair users at night, and ECOLUX SOLAR LED trough lighting to brighten opening times and visitor information signage.

Paul Woodgates, team leader, bus facilities team public transport for Nottingham City Council, says: “We’re delighted with the solution, the lighting levels are fantastic and it was both cost effective and easy to install. We are especially pleased with the SolisPOST, the contemporary design makes this system aesthetically pleasing as well as functional.”

SolisPOST does not require an on-grid connection, and has been developed to capture and store solar power with its integrated PV panel. Its Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) can detect when a pedestrian is approaching, and automatically increases the level of lighting, before returning to a low lighting level to conserve energy.

Nottingham City Council has pledged to cut the city’s carbon emissions by 26 percent by 2020, and aims to ensure that 20 percent of the energy used will be produced in the Greater Nottingham area from low carbon sources, targets outlined in the Nottingham Plan.
