Dating back to the 13th century, the Barcelona Stock Exchange is regarded as one of the oldest and most significant financial institutions in Spain.
With its importance also recognised by traders around Europe, management at the Stock Exchange were keen to upgrade the facility’s tricolour technology in order to cater for modern-day business people News and Media.
Wavetec, which specialises in providing display and signage material to financial institutions, identified the Barcelona Stock Exchange as a potential project and contacted the management team at the facility as part of its market development strategy.
Barcelona Stock Exchange opted to push ahead with a redevelopment project that would see the facility upgraded.
The project included: Wavetec IDS Software integrated with Stock Exchange Data feed and data base, to design and deploy the content on the tickers.
The project saw the installation of six tickers in total; one measuring 14m, three 6m, a 4m and one 2.5m – a total 19 square metres of tickers.

In addition, Wavetec offered further support to the facility by providing ongoing maintenance of the digital technology.
Overall, the project took a total of six weeks – a period that stretched from the initial order to the stage when the tickers were fully operational.
Wavetec carried out the entire project on its own – aided by ongoing consultation and cooperation with the team at the Stock Exchange.
Visitors to the Stock Exchange are now greeted by a host of new digital displays that show off various financial information communications and marketing materials.
Speaking about the project, José María Antunez, director of the Barcelona Stock Exchange said it was critical for the site to upgrade its facilities in order to satisfy the needs of the modern business person.

Clearly impressed by the Wavetec solution, Antunez went on to say that it was Wavetec’s previous work on similar projects that convinced the team at the Stock Exchange to accept the initial proposal.
