OKI printer helps family print business

Salford-based Seymour Sign and Print has revealed a key capital investment, made in order to help the small-business expand its output and increase overall revenue.

“It’s a family business, it’s just me and my dad,” explains David Hammond, managing director of Seymour Sign and Print, adding: “My dad has been doing it all his life and I started in 2010 doing the signage. We went limited three years ago and it’s grown from there. We specialize in vehicle graphics and large-format print amongst other things.”

After a long period of research and testing, the firm invested in an OKI ColorPainter W-64s, distributed through Signmaster Systems. The technology was developed by Seiko, which has recently been bought by OKI as it expands into the wide-format inkjet market.

Since the end of April, the company has had the ColorPainter installed to replace an older wide-format machine. Hammond says: “We did have a Roland, which we had for around five years, and we chopped it in while it still had some value and before things started going wrong with it. The ColorPainter blew us away on the quality and print speed.

“Our customers commented on the colour outputs immediately after we installed the machine. Overall the ColorPainter W-64s is a solid, reliable piece of kit and we have nothing but praise for the OKI machines and the staff at Signmaster Systems.”

Seymour Sign and Print has plenty of praise for distributor Signmaster Systems, with Hammond saying: “They was great and very helpful. They weren’t pushy or forceful. They were always at the end of the phone when we had questions and were happy to help us.”
