Epson’s SC-G6000 DTF printer was released in direct response to increased market demand for DTF solutions in garment printing

Epson has announced the release of its first direct-to-film (DTF) printer, the SC-G6000, marking its strategic entry into the DTF market.
Epson’s development of the SC-G6000 was reportedly in direct response to market demand with what the company sees as an increasing preference for DTF over conventional textile and garment printing techniques such as DTG, heat transfers, and screen printing.
Epson has billed the new roll-to-roll DTF solution as “a strong alternative in the marketplace”.
The new press comes with an automated fabric wiping system, which is designed to eliminate the need for regular manual maintenance unlike traditional systems that often require manual cleaning.
The SC-G6000, which leverages Epson’s existing inkjet technology, also offers a white ink circulation system which has been developed to prevent clogging and sedimentation.
The machine uses Epson’s UltraChrome DF ink available in five colours (CMYK plus white), with a capacity of 1.6L per colour.
The printer mechanics, PrecisionCore printhead, ink system, and image processor are all based on the latest Epson technologies, and the printer is fully integrated with Epson’s Edge Print Pro software.
User-friendly features were reportedly a key focus when developing the SC-G6000, with Epson targeting those new to DTF printing. As well as its automation features, the machine also includes touchscreen control.
In its announcement, Epson also points to the reported versatility of the SC-G6000, with the roll-to-roll suitable for application on a variety of fabrics beyond garments.
The DTF solution is the first in a new line of Epson DTG and DTF printers due for release in the near future. The new printer complements Epson’s current DTG and hybrid DTF solutions that are available with the SC-F1000, SC-F2200, and SC-F3000.
The SC-G6000 will be supported by dedicated reseller partners who will offer accessories including compatible powder shaker units, curing solutions, and other consumables.
Speaking of the new release, Grant Cooke, product manager (Textile) at Epson Europe, says: "As the first in Epson's direct-to-film range of ‘G’ series printers, the SC-G6000 demonstrates our enduring commitment to reliability, usability, and productivity.
“It combines proven technology with accessible features to deliver outstanding results, simplifying operational processes. This printer is an ideal solution for businesses looking to extend their textile printing capabilities with minimal complexity."
In September 2024, Epson also released the SC-S9100, a wide-format 64-inch eco-solvent printer tailored for the signage market.
The printer comes with 11 colours, including CMYK, red, orange, light black, light cyan, light magenta, green, and optional white. The inclusion of a new green ink expands the colour gamut, with the aim of delivering smoother gradations.
