Avery Dennison has announced the launch of the official Premier League ‘retro’ font from the 2007-2017 era, which will be available for football clubs and retailers.

The company’s Team Sports division is the official names, numbers, and sleeve badges supplier to all 20 participating clubs in the English Premier League, for both on-pitch and retail.

The 2007-2017 font was worn by many recognisable players in Premier League history and is arguably one of the most recognisable designs in global football. Avery Dennison has made the typography to the exact specifications used during its original run.

The edition of the retro font marks the first time that it has officially been made available, responding to high demand from clubs and fans for authentic retro shirts. Until now, no official version of the font had been available for purchase, leading to unofficial imitations in the market.

Heat Transfer sponsor logos on its Team Sports merchandise can incorporate ‘smart technology’ to unlock additional content through sponsorship activations. This includes an invisible watermark that can be scanned on a phone to unlock additional digital content related to the sponsorship.

Avery Dennison has also introduced a new sustainable option to its Heat Transfer Label product line, which uses 70% recycled content in the carrier material.

Steve Mason, vice president and general manager of Aftermarket & Embelex at Avery Dennison, says: “Football nostalgia is stronger than ever. Fans want to connect with their favourite team and era in a way that feels genuine.

“For years we’ve seen unofficial versions of these fonts in circulation, but now clubs, retailers, and fans can access the real thing, produced to the same high standards as today’s Premier League embellishments.”

Avery Dennison recently released its Q4 report for 2024, with reported sales in its material group increasing by 4% to $1.5bn (£1.2bn). The reported sales of its solutions group also increased by 3% to $714m (£554m), with its overall adjusted earnings per share (EPS) calculated to have grown by 19%.
