London to go dark for 20th anniversary of Earth Hour
London advertising landmarks including Piccadilly Lights and BFI IMAX will once again switch off for an hour this weekend to symbolise a moment of global unity for nature restoration

Ocean Outdoor has confirmed that Manchester City Council (MCC) has awarded its large-format out-of-home (OOH) contract to Ocean following a market wide tender process.
The contract has been held since 2010 by Ocean Outdoor, with the new contract running for ten years from October 2025, with the option to extend for a further five years.
Phil Hall, Ocean Outdoor UK chief executive officer, says: “Ocean has been delivering services to Manchester for 15 years. Our renewed partnership with MCC represents a significant growth opportunity, allowing for direct reinvestment back into public services via enhanced commercial opportunities.”
Ocean currently operates several sites throughout the city including Two Towers Manchester and the Digi-Bridge on Mancunian Way, with plans also for a new location capturing footfall on City Link Walk towards the Etihad Stadium.
MCC is looking to be at the “forefront” of digital out-of-home (DOOH) locations and technologies, with the contract detailing terms that will see Ocean fully modernise the estate, including the conversion of backlights to digital screens.
Ocean is also looking to offer social, environmental, and economic benefits to Manchester residents by working alongside the Council to ensure time and funding is targeted to ensure positive outcomes.

Hall adds: “Our MCC partnership is supported by a comprehensive social enterprise programme with a focus on education, jobs, and careers via initiatives like the Ocean Academy and INTO University; making environment improvements which fully align with MCC’s 2038 net zero goals; and grassroots support for the communities where we work.”
Ocean’s Manchester portfolio includes more than 100 large- and small-format screens and banners, including its Manchester Printworks site, the home of Europe’s largest digital ceiling.
