Antalis has announced the UK and Ireland launch of “SINTREX” a new lightweight expanded rigid polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Sheet designed for the sign and large-format print markets.

The product has been developed using manufacturing technology from 3A Composites and is described as an “extremely easy-to-process” printing substrate.

Made from PET, SINTREX has natural white surfaces that are made to produce strong colour reproduction across different print technologies including digital print and screen printing.

SINTREX’s lightweight structure is said to allow it to be handled and processed quickly and efficiently, making it suitable for the likes of signage, point of sale (POS) displays, and indoor and outdoor constructions.

Paul Neale, product manager at Antalis, says: “SINTREX has been developed with the needs of printers and sign-makers in mind. It offers an excellent balance of print quality, lightweight handling and fire performance, giving our customers a versatile new option for indoor and outdoor signage, display, and exhibition applications.”

According to Antalis, the product can be cut, milled, folded, bent, and thermoformed, and is said to be suitable for laminating, painting, and gluing. The material comes in 5mm and 10mm thicknesses with 1220 x 2440mm and 2030 x 3050mm sheet sizes.

SINTREX has also achieved EN 13501-1 B-s1, d0 (5 mm) and B-s2, d0 (10mm) classifications for fire regulations, making it suitable for public buildings, retail spaces, and exhibition environments.

In recent months, Antalis has continued its run of acquisitions, with its purchase of Texo Trade Services (TTS) being one of its most recent. TTS is a Dutch distributor and manufacturer of printable textiles and media and focuses on textile and wide-format materials.
