ICON Printing, a garment printing business based in London has worked with personal injury solicitors, First4Lawyers, to create a light-hearted take on workplace health and safety.

During December many companies will take to social media and the internet to interact with potential customers and clients to brighten up the winter period.

Following years of government guidance over the likes of PPE, ICON has produced a fun spin of workwear advice by suggesting safe workwear for Santa and his elves.

In a release by the company, Alex Econs, founder, and chief executive officer for ICON has detailed the outfits in health and safety style diagrams.

Changes and considerations include protective equipment for Santa’s eyes, ears, body, and more, taking into account the perils and modern challenges the festive character may encounter.

Econs explains: “Santa’s bobble hat needed some serious updating. To protect this critical body part when flying his sleigh, we’ve added a full helmet to shield his face from insects, flying debris or in case of an accident. A beard guard has also been added to prevent his iconic facial hair from getting tangled in any machinery.”

The project demonstrates ICON’s creativity and ability to work with businesses on a number of levels. Working with businesses to develop important branded merchandise, ICON’s image and ethos is very important to the way it does business.

Discussing why they worked with ICON, head of claims at First4Lawyers, Jacqueline Busby, says: “Employers, whether large corporations or small family businesses are required to do all that is reasonably practicable to protect their workers. Making sure they have the right clothing and equipment is part of this.

“Employers should evaluate the need for PPE during risk assessments. If it could help to keep people safe, providing it is essential.

“Certain workers need extra protections, and this includes those who help ensure there are presents under the tree. Those in jobs with more risk will need more attention paid to their PPE.”
