Ellis Signs is serving its clients from a new office and factory space, only two weeks after a fire ravaged its facility in North East England

UK sign-maker, Ellis Signs, has reported an extraordinary recovery mere weeks after its facility was ravaged by fire.
Emergency services attended Patterson Street in Blaydon at 4am on March 25th, where a fire broke out at the Ellis Signs factory and office, destroying a significant portion of the facility.
While nobody was physically harmed by the fire, reports stated that the blaze partially destroyed both the interior and the building’s roof. A spokesperson for the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service reported that five pumping appliances were in attendance along with specialist vehicles.
The news garnered a significant response on social media, with many professionals in the signage industry offering their sympathies and help to Ellis Signs. Businesses including RMC Digital Print, Doghouse Installations, and Graffiti Design all offered their services regarding any signage work or projects.
Following on from the fire, the Ellis Sign team worked tirelessly to rebuild its operations, find new facilities to operate from, and minimise the impact to its customers and clients.
Speaking about the recovery operations, digital marketing manager at Ellis Signs, Jessie Smith, says: “Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working closely behind the scenes to help rebuild and reposition Ellis Signs following a challenging period for the business.
“The fire was a major disruption, both physically and operationally. For any business, an event like that can be defining – but in this case, it became a turning point. The focus quickly shifted to recovery, rebuilding systems, and getting production back on track.”
In her statement to SignLink, Smith highlights the positive and productive attitude of her team in the face of adversity, saying: “What stood out most wasn’t the setback itself, but the response to it – a determination to get the business moving again, without losing momentum or standards.”
Ellis Signs are now working from new offices alongside a new factory space. Within just two weeks, the company has managed to bring its production back on track and continue serving its clients with their signage needs.
Smith adds: “It’s been a rapid turnaround, but focusing on our commitment to moving forward has really helped. Although the past couple of weeks have been tough, team Ellis have really shown resilience in difficult times. Because of this, we know we’ll be back stronger than ever.”
Ellis Signs has documented its rapid return to operations on social media, with the UK signage industry responding with encouragement and praise.
Responding to an update post on LinkedIn around a week after the fire, Dan Garrett, head of projects at Graffiti Design said: “Mega progress! Hats off to you all.”
Sue Gibson, senior project development manager (North) at AS Watson Group, added: “Amazing turnaround. What a difference a week makes.”
