Claire White, design specification consultant at materials distributor, Antalis, has been elected as the new vice president of the Shop and Display Equipment Association (SDEA).

The announcement came during the SDEA’s 78th annual general meeting, which took place on May 14th. The annual meeting is designed to bring together members of the retail display and design industry to reflect on the past year and shape the future of the sector.

At the event, Mark Chatterton of retail wholesale supplier Morplan, was confirmed to continue in his role as the association’s president. It was also announced that the Creative Interiors Awards, a new awards show co-organised by the association, is now open for entries.

White has almost two decades of previous experience in visual merchandising and retail development which she utilises in her design specification role at Antalis, providing advice and support to a range of clients including interior designers, creative agencies, and retailers.

Speaking at the annual general meeting, White said: “The SDEA continues to offer valuable and relevant support and advice across the very different sectors it encompasses, including the shop fit, design, and display industries, as well as providing key opportunities to liaise, network and, let’s not forget, celebrate, the immense creativity and successes of its members throughout the year.

“Having been a council member for the past three years, I was incredibly excited, honoured, and delighted to accept the role of vice president for the coming year.”

In addition to White’s appointment, three new members were elected to the SDEA executive council this year, namely James North of Northbanks Design, Sally Scott of Quagga Design, and Ross Inanc of HOL Group.

SDEA director, Antony Behiels, adds: “We are delighted to welcome our new council members and look forward to the valuable perspectives they will bring.

“With Mark and Claire at the helm, the association is well positioned to continue championing innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the retail design and display industry.”
