This is Effective, which previously traded as Effective Imaging, has purchased a new Xerox Versant 280 digital press

Signage company, This is Effective, has expanded into in-house small-format print with the purchase of a Xerox Versant 280 digital press.

The Xerox solution, purchased alongside a range of binding, stitching, folding, and cutting equipment, was added to This is Effective’s arsenal as part of the company’s wider business development plan to offer customers a single supplier solution for all printing and marketing needs.

The Versant press allows the Norfolk-based company to provide business cards, leaflets, flyers, postcards, and other promotional items direct from its Great Yarmouth facility.

The Versant 280 offers an adaptive ‘CMYK+’ ink kit that includes speciality toners including gold and silver as well as multiple ‘fluorescent’ options that glow under UV light, namely cyan, magenta, and yellow.

Oversize options are available with the press utilising high-capacity vacuum feeders and a Plockmatic MPS (Multipurpose Stacker) XL, designed to accelerate turnaround for jobs up to 1.2m in length.

To support the expansion into small-format, This is Effective has employed two full-time members of staff, namely a production manager and a machine operative. The hiring of new staff aligns with the company’s goals to create a positive impact to the local community, as strategic partners of the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce.

The signage and graphics company was founded in 2016 by company director Jonathan Ling, a signage and vehicle graphics professional with 30 years of industry experience. Since its inception, it has increasingly expanded its product offerings to include industrial and commercial engraving, embroidered and printed workwear, and branded merchandise.

Speaking of the Xerox purchase, Sara Docwra, company director of This is Effective, says: “We already produce an enormous range of wide-format print items in-house such as banners and signage, but there is a huge gap in the local market for a business that can supply everything themselves with complete control over the production chain.

“This means that we’ll be able to cater to all our customers, without them needing to use multiple suppliers. It’ll be much more manageable from a procurement point of view. We are so proud to be abler to do everything ourselves as it’s rare in this day and age.”

The move is part of a wider trend within the signage and graphics industries for companies to present themselves as ‘one stop shops’ for branding solutions.

KGK Genix also recently partnered with Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK, in order to add small-format print production to the company’s in-house offerings.

Konica Minolta supplied and installed an AccurioPress C12000 at KGK Genix’s recently expanded production facility in Essex, as part of the company’s new production line.

The installation expanded the scope of a company chiefly known for retail graphics and display to include offerings such as corporate brochures, packaging designs, and business cards.
