A Cardiff-signage company has announced its latest partnership in time for the World Cup

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has chosen Dragon Signs as its official signage partner to help in publicising and communicating the success of the men’s Welsh football team which has just made it through to the next round of the cup after a draw with the USA.
Dragon Signs has worked in the industry for over three decades and has worked with the likes of Tennis Wales, Glamorgan County Cricket Club, and Cardiff Blues.
The business recently exhibited at events like Procurex Live and Restaurant & Bar Tech Live in the ExCel London which it did in partnership with Route Media, a digital out-of-home (DOOH) company.
This year Wales is in the Group B stage of the World Cup final tournament, getting there for the first time since 1958.
This year’s Cup has caused a lot of controversy due to its location in Qatar, a country known for its poor human rights, and discrimination against women and the LGBTQ+ community.
The English and Welsh football teams were recently disappointed by the news they would not be allowed to wear the OneLove armband during matches as it would risk sanctions against the teams.
Speaking to the BBC, The Rainbow Wall, a group representing Welsh LGBTQ+ football fans, said it had “no faith” in FIFA following the decision.
In a statement FAW, says: "We're frustrated. We're disappointed. But we remain with the belief that football is for everyone and stand with our LGBTQ+ members of the Welsh football family."
Despite the frustrations around the tournament, Welsh fans and businesses have still celebrated the Football team’s success in matches as it has only ever made it to the World Cup final tournament once before in 1958.
FAW and Dragon Signs have also celebrated the success of the Wales women’s team which reached the World Cup play-offs for the first time ever this year.
Dragon Signs managing director, Rhys Harrington, says: “We are proud to be able to play a part in highlighting the team’s accomplishments and also the community and grassroots work carried out by the FAW across the country.
“In past weeks we have started to build momentum ahead of the World Cup with signage at key locations including Cardiff Airport and have more coming in the future.”
Ian Davis, chief commercial and engagement officer for the FAW, adds: “Dragon Signs is a well-known company that has great prominence in the sporting world, but also towns and cities across Wales and the UK.
“From our work with the national men's and women's teams and the domestic game to the initiatives we undertake in communities focused on health and wellbeing, Dragon Signs will be important in helping to promote our message in key parts of the country.” If you have any news, email news@signlink.co.uk or join in with the conversation on Twitter and LinkedIn.
