Local sign firm hits the Big Apple
Yorkshire-based graphics firm, Leach has spruced up New York City with a “gigantic” mural as part of its continued work with Brooklyn Museum.

The mural took four days to install
The 24m tall by 16m wide canvas was created as a tribute to French photographer, JR, and features an image of more than 1,000 New York residents in the black and white style that JR is known for.
The mural itself took 16 Leach employees over ten hours to print and four days to install with the firm overseeing the entire process, from printing, cutting and sewing, to packing, installation and project management.
Tom Foster, project director at Leach, comments: “We’re proud to have been involved in a wide range of incredible heritage projects both in the UK and overseas. Therefore, we’re delighted to be offered the opportunity to work with Brooklyn Museum once again.”

Leach used Senfa Technologies Textiles’ Domino product for the mural’s material as it is designed for large-format visual communications applications such as this. The graphics were printed at Leach’s HQ in Huddersfield and were later installed 3,000 miles away in the US.
Foster adds: “It’s great to see the Leach brand becoming synonymous with some of the most amazing projects and exhibitions within this sector, and this mural – which overlooks the East River – is another exciting piece of work to put our name to.”
Coinciding with Brooklyn Museum’s seven-month JR: Chronicles exhibit, the mural can be found in Domino Park, Williamsburg.
