More than 1,300 well-wishers worldwide contributed to the good luck banner

Talking Print’s managing director David Hyams came up with the idea to create a motivational ‘good luck’ banner and supporting video brochure to present to the local football club ahead of the FA Cup final.

Having designed the 2.5 x 6m banner containing more than 1,300 good luck messages from supporters across over 100 countries, Hyams called on the expertise of two local companies to bring the project to life.

Digital sports agency Sotic managed the data and online forms to create the messages and fabrication and print company Stylographics printed the banner.

A lot of the team involved in organising this have been supporting Watford for a very long time so to see the team today and to see the look on their faces has been excellent

“The message for the print industry is this is a great example of web-to-print,” explains Hyams. “It also highlights our expertise with innovation in print. We’ve had responses from all over the world, including Portugal, South Africa, Zimbabwe, USA and Brazil, with messages of congratulations and some very personal messages from people who have followed the team for many years.”

The project was particularly special for the Talking Print team as many of them have supported Watford FC for many years.

Hyams reflects: “A lot of the team involved in organising this have been supporting Watford for a very long time – the majority of us were there 35 years ago – so to see the team today and to see the look on their faces has been excellent.”
