Lancashire-based Super Wide Digital has invested in the new Vutek 5r roll-to-roll printer from EFI, which was unveiled to the world at the recent EFI Connect conference in Las Vegas

As well as a wealth of breakout sessions to inform and inspire, insightful ‘fireside chats’ with the likes of EFI’s chief executive officer Guy Gecht, new Xerox chief executive officer Jeff Jacobson, and Quad Graphics chief executive officer Joel Quadracci, Connect also saw the launch of two new Vutek models, one of which was snapped up by UK firm Super Wide Digital.

The new Vutek 5r five-metre roll-to-roll LED printer made its worldwide debut at this year’s Connect, and the Super Wide team jumped at the chance of adding the model to its existing portfolio of EFI technology.

Business development manager at Super Wide Digital, Luke Drogan, describes the 5r as ‘an incredible piece of technology’, and explains: “We have been running 5m technology for nearly 20 years, and we had one of the first 5-metre machines in the UK. We wanted to invest in the latest technology so that we can offer our client base, our trade-only customers, the best possible output within the industry.

“This machine in particular outputs over 400sq m an hour at very high quality print, so for us it’s a no-brainer.”

Drogan also commends the Connect ethos as a whole, praising the event’s capacity to help EFI customers get the most out of their products and reaffirm a strong working partnership with the brand. Drogan continues: “We’re a long-term customer of EFI - we’ve invested in six machines over the last three years, and we have a very good relationship with the company.

“The service is superb, and we came to our first Connect this year to get a good view on what’s happening in 2017 with EFI, and of course we have also invested in the new machine. A lot of the breakthrough sessions we’ve done were very interesting, we can take a lot of info back and implement that going forward this year. We feel from what we’ve heard and what we’ve seen, very motivated and encouraged by the industry and where it’s going, so it’s been very worthwhile.

“The way it’s been managed and the way it’s set out is incredible. We’ll definitely be here again.”
