The award show will celebrate female role models for the IT channel, to create more diverse workplaces

Seven employees from Sharp Business Systems UK (SBSUK) have been shortlisted for awards at the CRN’s inaugural Women in Channel Awards 2018.

SBSUK, a subsidiary of Sharp Electronics Europe, provide document management and display solutions for businesses, including video walls, digital signage and interactive touchscreens.

The women from SBSUK shortlisted include Corina Schiopu for ‘Rising Star’, Holly Chambers and Katherine Harris for ‘Sales Employee of the Year’, Kristie Scott-Woodham and Angela Townsend for ‘Manager of the Year’, Alice Lee for ‘Technical Employee of the Year’ and Adrienne Topping for ‘Marketing Employee of the Year’.

Adrienne Topping, group brand and marketing communications manager at SBSUK says: “It is such an honour to have made it this far and to be recognised with the other fantastic women from Sharp. This is an exciting new chapter for myself and my team. Being directly involved with one of the top manufacturers in our industry has opened up a world of opportunities and I’m truly excited to develop myself and my role further.”

The issue of diversity in the workplace is more relevant now than ever before, and it’s a proven fact that organisations with a more diverse workforce make better decisions

Other finalists include employees from top technology organisations like VMware, UK Fast and Vodafone.

The award show is hosted by Incisive Media which have been running The Channel Awards for 25 years. The Women in Channel Awards was launched this year to encourage more women to take up roles in the technology sector.

Katie Burridge, senior marking manager at Incisive Media says: “The issue of diversity in the workplace is more relevant now than ever before, and it’s a proven fact that organisations with a more diverse workforce make better decisions.”

Burridge adds: “As the voice of the UK IT channel, Women in Channel and CRN are committed to encouraging debate and research into the diversity deficit. Wherever the fault lies, there is no shortage of talented female staff at vendors, distributors and resellers capable of inspiring the next generation. We feel that shouting about the accomplishments of women in the channel - not because they are women, but because their accomplishments are worth shouting about – can play an important role in tackling the issue.”

The awards will be held on October 18th at the Hilton London Bankside hotel.
