BSGA Awards praise young sign-makers
With the debate on qualifications in the sign industry rife, and some arguing that the lack of training means that less young people enter the industry, it is great to see two young sign-makers celebrated for their hard work and dedication.

Alice Dowle from Signs Express in Exeter, and James Stuchbury from the same franchise in Sheffield, are nominated finalists for Young Sign-maker of the Year from the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA), alongside two others from different sign companies.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on November 9th 2017 in Leicester, and will be hosted by Britain’s Got Talent acts Francine Lewis and Darren Altman.

Managing director of the Signs Express network, Craig Brown, comments: “We, as a network, are only as good as our team and I am immensely proud of all of our sign-makers. These nominations are well deserved by both Alice and James and I wish them both the best of luck in the awards.”

Dowle was nominated by Marion Baxter-Sibley, the director of Signs Express (Exeter), for her “drive and determination”, which she has displayed at the branch since arriving at the age of 17. The owner of Signs Express in Sheffield nominated Stuchbury, who has managed to take on some of the duties of a production manager, despite his age.
