Youth initiative hires new apprentices
A scheme to bring in new blood to the printing industry has seen an Essex outfit take on new apprentices.

The role at SEDO is Mollie Argent’s first since leaving higher education
The British Printing Industries Federation initiative, entitled the Print Administration and Planning Apprenticeship, has been taken up by South East Drawing Office (SEDO). Two apprentices have joined the company under the scheme that aims to attract high quality entrants which guarantees the industry benefits from trained employees.
SEDO has taken on Adam Keys as a print apprentice, while Mollie Argent is a business administration apprentice at the company. Adam Keys was undertaking a carpentry apprenticeship when a friend suggested the printing industry was a possible career path for him, while Mollie has joined straight from education as a business administration apprentice, supported by ITEC.

She says: “I really appreciate that SEDO always put their customers first. The apprenticeship is a great way to kick off my career, and I can already see it’ll allow me to achieve the experience and qualifications I need to grow quickly.”
Keys adds: “I enjoy the wide variety of jobs and media that I use and see on a daily basis, and I’m learning about so many different techniques and methods. Since starting work in print, I really appreciate how important it is to our daily lives.”
