Mimaki has moved to expand its selection of inks with the addition of a new stretchable product suitable for a host of thermoforming applications

Mimaki LUS-350 ink is compatible with the firm’s UJF-7151plus and JFX200-2513 models

Mimaki LUS-350, which will stretch up to 350 percent when heated to between 120 and 200°C, is compatible with the manufacturer’s UJF-7151plus and JFX200-2513 printers.

After cooling to room temperature, Mimaki says the ink's rigidity is restored, while adhering to the moulded product without cracking or peeling.

The manufacturer also added that the new LUS-350 clear ink is unique in the market as it has the ability to add texture or a glossy finish that cannot be achieved with coloured ink alone.

This is a very exciting development for Mimaki users in the industrial sector who need to produce items with greater creativity in a less time consuming manner and more cost effectively than previously

Stuart Cole, national sales manager for industrial products Hybrid Services, the exclusive distributor of Mimaki kit in the UK and Ireland, has welcomed the new ink, describing the launch as exciting for the manufacturer’s customer base.

“This is a very exciting development for Mimaki users in the industrial sector who need to produce items with greater creativity in a less time consuming manner and more cost effectively than previously. Yet again forward thinking technological development from Mimaki will provide end users with greater flexibility and the potential to create and develop an ever wider range of bespoke products.”

Mimaki is already known across the industry for its wide range of inks and this new launch will only attract further interest in its product portfolio.
