InkTec’s first-ever LED printer in FESPA debut

Over the course of its four-day run, FESPA has seen a whole host of solutions across its halls in Amsterdam RAI. InkTec used the show as a platform to introduce its first ever LED printer to the world—the Jetrix LX5.

The Jetrix LX5 is the first in a series of LED printers that InkTec will launch

The LX5 is the latest generation in InkTec’s Jetrix portfolio, the first in a series of LED printers to be launched by the company. The machine has a printing speed of up to 39sqm/h in production mode, and is equipped with six picolitre Konica Minolta print heads.

Head of national sales Ben Woodruff comments: “It’s quite exciting because we have been developing the ink technology ourselves, and it’s taken quite a long time - over a year in development. We’ve made somewhere in the region of 50 different ink formulations in order to get it right, so it’s exciting that it has now materialised and is up and running.

Over the past couple of years we’ve had customers ask ‘why don’t you have an LED option?’ and we thought, ‘that’s a good question’. So here we are!

“We decided to develop an LED printer as it is more environmentally-friendly, a lot of customers are speaking to us about LED and we felt that while there are benefits of both technologies, traditional UV and LED lamps if we offer both can provide the best of both worlds and tailor a solution to what each individual customer needs.”

The sample prints from the machine that were laid out in front of it were certainly attracting attention from passers-by as visitors admired the high-quality and vibrant colours, and the firm informed us two orders had already been placed.

Woodruff explained that the reason behind the company’s decision to enter the LED market was simply down to listening to its customers, adding: “Over the past couple of years we’ve had customers ask ‘why don’t you have an LED option?’ and we thought, ‘that’s a good question’. So here we are!”
