“We’d been talking to them [Perfect Colours] for some time. We wanted to take advantage of the LED curing lamps on the new model, because we do a lot of optically clear manifestation graphics which use the double white heads,” says Signbox, managing director, Mark Bartlett.

He continues: “Using LED lamps is a quicker process than the halogen lamps. It’s about future proofing the business, and getting a machine that is the latest technology. We were very happy with the Omega 1, it’s done extremely well for us. If we had room, we’d probably have kept it.

The firm only took delivery of an Omega 1 two years ago and Bartlett claims the firm were in no real need for an upgrade, the model was just the right one.

“If it had come up slightly later, then we would have taken it slightly later,” he explains, adding: “The equipment we’ve got is working absolutely fine. You could argue that it isn’t the right time to sell a piece of equipment, but we’re getting a good price for it.”

Signbox will be exhibiting at Marketing Week Live next week and Bartlett explains business has been up and down this year.

He says: “Last year was very consistent. We had some extreme highs, with our busiest ever month in April, but also some flatter periods just after Christmas.

“Its not consistent but there are definitely more encouraging signs, there are some nice orders out there if your prepared to work for them.”
