Zapkut embraces Creative Spirit

Dave Denton, founder of Creative Spirit, has paid tribute to the impact that a new Zapkut ZM16 cutting machine has had on business.

Creative Spirit began life in 1989 as a design and print business, but has increasingly diversified into areas such as large-format graphics

Based in Kettering, the firm began life in 1989 as a design and print business, but soon evolved into a much large operation that now offers a host of services such as large-format print, and bespoke design and construction to customers.

With such a diversified service on offer, Creative Spirit has been outsourcing its cutting work to a local provider. However with the sub-contractor essentially a one-man band and looking to retire, Denton identified an opportunity to bring this part of the operation in house and benefit from the increased business it could create.

With this in mind, Denton and his team opted to invest in a Zapkut ZM16 from Sagetech. Capable of cutting 10” x 5” sheets, the device is part of one of four ranges offered by British manufacturer.

Denton, who is one of the main users of the machines, comes from a carpentry and joinery background and is aware of the quality required by such machines. He has no hesitation in praising the quality of his new investment, commenting: “It does its job, and the other lads get on OK with it, and it’s easy enough to use.”

Denton also notes that other major vertical panel saw manufacturers only offer larger machines and none of these would have been able to fit under the low height storage racks at Creative Spirit, making the ZM16 an excellent solution. He now expects a rapid payback for the investment involved.

Creative Spirit’s new machine is one of a number of Zapkut ZM devices on offer from Sagetech. Starting as low as £2,495 for an 8” x 4” model, the Zapkut brand is best suited for lighter duties.

Aside from the ZM range, Sagetech also stocks the ZK portable unit in two sizes, which, when not in use can be folded up compactly and stored. In addition, the Koolkut brand is suited for those requiring a heavier duty machine, with the KF and KK Koolkut units offering capacities of up to 3.1 x 2.1m.

In a statement, Sagetech adds: “Sagetech provides a very comprehensive range of sizes and models, enabling customers, whose needs range from intermittent cutting to the higher end users—with some even cutting an average of about 150 sheets a week—to select the most compact, space-saving solution appropriate to their business.”
