ESMA claims success with printed interiors event

The European Specialist Printing Manufacturer’s Association (ESMA) has reported that the first-ever edition of its Printed Interior Decoration (PID) conference proved to be a hit with visitors

Printed Interior Decoration attracted over 150 participants in its first year

The event, which took place earlier this year, attracted a host of visitors from a range of backgrounds and gave them the chance to gain an insight into printed decoration on different materials for wall and floor covering, as well as textiles and furniture.

Peter Buttiens, chief executive officer of ESMA and event organiser, comments: “Looking at the printing market today, many traditional segments are under pressure from competition and this results in lower margins and less work.

“With a little help and expertise, many of the large format printers can become important suppliers for Printed Interior Decoration solutions.”

Buttiens also said that the event gave visitors currently not operating in this sector the chance to find out more about the opportunities that await them if they opt to diversify.

“Recently, many successful printers switching to this segment have come forward, revealing that this sector could be as interesting and lucrative as the large format display and banner market today,” Buttiens said.

The inaugural event was supported by retail trade fair and wallpaper association, Euroshop, as well as FESPA, which opted to launch its new Print Inspiration Rally project at the conference.

The next edition of the event will take place in November 2016.
