Print manufacturing giant Epson is to link up with the German Fashion Institute (DMI) to demonstrate various textile production colour control methods to visitors at this month’s Heimtextil show in Frankfurt

The two organisations will work together to show both textile designers and printers how they can create, proof and digitally print textile colours from mood board to the final product using Spring-Summer 2016 trend colours.

DMI’s trend colour cards, which are used by companies around the world to plan collections, have been digitised by Epson and Color Digital DMI to develop DMIx, a digital colour communication standard that allows designers to identify, match and reproduce colours at all points of the supply chain.

During the show, DMI will display the complete DMIx workflow, which comprises capturing an original design, viewing it on screen, through to outputting a proof on an Epson Stylus Pro 4900 printer, and producing the final textiles with an Epson SureColor SC-F7100 dye sublimation printer.

“We strongly believe that all parts of the value chain across the textile industry will need to become increasingly digital,” says DMI director Gerd Willschütz.

Our aim is to work with leading hardware and software partners such as Epson and Color Digital to streamline the complete design-to-production workflow with solutions that maximise colour quality and consistency and significantly cut lead times in this very competitive market

Richard Barrow, senior product manager at Epson Europe, adds: “At Epson we offer a range of inkjet printers to deliver exactly the benefits the textile industry needs - superb colour quality output with maximum productivity and minimal downtime.

“Our association with the DMI gives our décor and fashion customers the confidence that they are achieving total end-to-end colour control and integrity.”

Heimtextil will take place at the Messe Frankfurt from January 14th to 17th.
