Widd Signs is to open a new facility in St Helens following acquisition

Widd Signs provides signage consultancy, design and production and its portfolio of customers includes well-known names such as Marks & Spencer, Primark and Schuh.

Having reached full capacity at its Leeds site, the firm is now looking to grow further and expand across the north in a new facility.

St Helens Council supported in the acquisition of Spectrum and Widd Signs’ 20,000sq ft facility in Sutton.

It’s clear to see the positive impression Widd Signs has made in such a short space of time, investing not only in the business side, but the workers too who seem really happy and enthusiastic

St Helens Council leader David Baines comments: “For such a successful city-based company to choose St Helens as the place to grow and take business to the next level really speaks volumes about St Helens being seen as the place to be for economic activity – especially when it comes to industries such as manufacturing – and we will do everything we can to support them.”

Widd Signs employs over 80 people across its Leeds and St Helens sites and has already invested £50,000 in upgrading plant and equipment at the new site. With plans to create more positions for the local community in the future, the council is assisting in recruiting for vacant roles.

Councillor Richard McCauley adds: “It’s clear to see the positive impression Widd Signs has made in such a short space of time, investing not only in the business side, but the workers too who seem really happy and enthusiastic about their work and future prospects.”
