Earn your wings with Allen Signs

Allen Signs has found its wings and produced a series of 100 signs to commemorate the centenary of the Royal Air Force, as well as Lincolnshire’s connection with the RAF.

Each sign has a question on it to be answered by children and their families

Visit Lincoln is promoting eight brand new trails for walking and cycling that each have its own wing-shaped sign that offers information on the RAF, from the men and women that have served and experienced the air force. Each wing represents a different famous plane, including the Spitfire, Hawk, and Tiger Moth.

The 100 signs are in different locations on each trail as a part of the 100 voices celebration, and the eight new trails consist of four walking trails and four cycle paths. The shortest distances for walking include the Hawk and Spitfire, which travel through the city centre and take around an hour to complete. The longest trails are for cycling, and are 45 and 55 miles long.

We’re thrilled to have been able to support this project in the making and can’t wait to try out some of the walks too

Allen Signs said in a statement on social media: “We’re thrilled to have been able to support this project in the making and can’t wait to try out some of the walks too.” The different trails are family-orientated, and each sign has a question on it along the route, and each sign has a question on it to be answered.

A leaflet and scorecard are available from the Visitor Information Centre and tourists can play along with each sign. The long trails include the Lancaster Trail, which provides a route to the International Bomber Command Centre which is to the south of the city, and the Sopwith Camel trail is six miles long.
